Eve appeared at the door of the holiday house with a young man who stood some fifteen centimetres taller than her. She held his arm and pointed at Perl.

“Okay?!” Adrian hissed. “Yes, there’s someone down on the beach.”

“No, Ade, it’s not a person.”

“Excuse me?”

Breathing heavily Eve looked down at Perl.
